HOW TO DISTRACT YOURSELF SO YOU COMPLETE 40 DAYS OF LENT

It’s pancake day and I love it! When I was younger, I used to race home from school to beat my brother and sister to the best pancakes and be able to smoother them in strawberries and chocolate before they even arrived home. I couldn’t ask for a better after school snack. And after I had stuffed my face full of pancakes my mum ‘kindly’ reminded me that I should probably give something up for lent. To this day I have never completed the full 40 days, whether that be because I crumbled or simply forgot what I gave up for lent and realised a little too late.

However, this year is different I am determined to complete the challenge and I will not eat any chocolate until time is up! (I know it’s quite a common one, but chocolate really is my weakness). The only thing I am worried about is the start. How will I distract myself and not dip into the chocolate draw? Telling myself I am not allowed just makes me think about it more and that is why I have failed every year beforehand.

So, with that in mind I’ve got to distract myself from anything chocolatey and what could be better than submerging myself in a scavenger hunt. It will take your mind off whatever you are missing for at least 3 hours and that could be all you need. It might seem like a different technique to use but could be just the thing to kick those cravings and it’s a lot of fun too. Grab a couple of friends who are struggling to stick to the 40-day challenge and help them out but the ultimate distraction a Big Smoke Events Scavenger Hunt. We promise there will be no ‘goodies’ in sight!
