How the Ping Pong Challenge Works
Fast, Funny & Competitive – A One-Hour Tournament Everyone Can Join
The Ping Pong Challenge Show brings together skill, laughter, and a dash of friendly chaos in a one-hour, fully hosted tournament. It’s designed for all abilities – combining trivia, sabotage cards, and live gameplay for a team experience that’s as funny as it is competitive.
Team Setup & Tournament Kickoff:
We start by getting everyone into their doubles teams — a great way to mix departments and encourage new connections.
Trivia & Sabotage Cards:
Before the matches begin, teams compete in a quick-fire trivia quiz on their phones. Winners earn Sabotage Cards they can use later to throw off their opponents – from “play with your non-dominant hand” to “swap paddles mid-rally!”
Round-Robin Tournament:
Its an all v all competition so everyone gets plenty of game time, whilst earning valuable points for every game won. Between rounds, your host keeps energy high with mini challenges and live commentary.
Finals & Awards:
The top teams face off in an exciting final match, cheered on by the rest of the room. Medals, prizes, and plenty of applause round off the event in true Big Smoke style.
Wrap-Up:
A mix of trivia, teamwork, and table tennis that gets everyone laughing, moving, and connecting — the perfect blend of skill, speed, and silliness.

How VolkerFitzpatrick Brought Their Senior Team Together Through The Ping Pong Challenge Show
VolkerFitzpatrick, one of the UK’s leading engineering and construction companies, celebrated the end of their year by bringing together their national senior management team for a fun, social, and active experience — The Ping Pong Challenge Show with Big Smoke Events.
Many of the participants had not previously met in person, so the goal was to strengthen relationships and spark teamwork in a high-energy, light-hearted environment.
We designed and hosted a bespoke Ping Pong Challenge Show, where the client formed random doubles teams on the day to compete in a friendly, round-robin tournament.
Before the matches began, everyone joined a personalised ping pong trivia game on their mobiles, featuring questions about VolkerFitzpatrick such as:
“Which was VolkerFitzpatrick’s largest national construction site?”
Winners of the trivia rounds earned Sabotage Cards to use during the tournament — adding plenty of laughter as opponents were challenged to play with their non-dominant hands or face other playful twists!
The event culminated in an exciting Final Match between the top two teams, with medals awarded to the champions and big smiles all around.
The Result:
An inclusive, high-energy team experience that brought colleagues together, encouraged friendly competition, and delivered exactly the fun, shared atmosphere the organisers were looking for.
